view from the edge-the editors shack
thought i might create a little page to give the brink editors (and any interested brinkster's) a place to congregate, trade ideas, babble about whatever it may take to balance on the brink....maybe even a way to see who the other editors are... tell me the future, rehash the past ...contribute away, let the conversation begin! What's stuck in there? I haven't passed on anything of yours. Maybe the ride at the fair? I five-starred that one. I check the docket very frequently and I feel that it's an excellent tool for all of us. As is the subscribe feature. That one saves me time and effort and, uh, speeds the plow. Perhaps even better, it reminds me when contributors whose submissions I look forward to -- like Zog, Dr. Bill Denizen and Deena -- go missing on us. Also, more than one or two of us are continuing to have some techno difficulties.
Not as severe as mine, mind you, because the difficulties I suffer from seem to stem from too many years replacing Cheerios with acid and milk with rye whiskey. That combined with a brain stem dismantling itself due to a fairly common but mostly mysterious illness: multiple sclerosis.
Anyway, you always get a bye from me, Davo. And I stil want to ride the pole hidden inside that long red dress.

more a gentle prod to the general populace than to you guy, not sure all editors realize they are on the jury long term these days (which i think is pretty cool) in hopes of helping speed the process...just doing my part to hopefully flush the brush of hidden editors....

Good, because I didn't realize until a couple of weeks ago that I had this Jury Docket button on my toolbar, and I've been using it at least a couple of times a day -- for the very reasons you mention. I never comment on my own submissions and I don't place them on the Lies page. Fair is pretty obviously what's fair here. I try (although not always with much success) not to prob others too hard, but sometimes that's tough. Katie has a whole bunch of stuff for you (including a dining room in an abandoned and overgrown trailer that's one of my favorite photos of all time) and I've got some cool stuff for Jim Parks. But I'm genuinely a fucking moron when it comes to sizing and uploading my own stuff and I feel badly about putting the thumbscrews to her. I haven't figured out how to load audio stuff (or video, either) yet and I've got about a zillion hours of both stacked up.
I'll write PostMod, the Word Girl, tonight to clue her in on this space. She's really an interesting woman and very open to the changes taking place. And I plan on giving Laird Degnin. a very long and either truly great or truly pompous thing called "The Slave's Hymn."
Where's Danny Stuart been? I asked Chuck and he didn't know. How about Reno/ And you might have noticed an unfamiliar name pop up: MOURITS. His name is Bertram Mourits, to whom I dedicated the poem called "The First Cousin" some years ago. He's an old and great friend, a former Fullbright Scholar who's now some sort of hot-shot editor at a fine publishing house in the Netherlands. Also a superb musician.
Enough of my blather. But I'm having fun doing this loony shit and I gave my word to some beloved friends to do all I could to help turn The Brink into a more, ah, viable outpost of culture.

i look forward to those photos, really dig everything she has posted so far...i pinged mssr. stuart and just heard back that he is just "taking a break" and zog is frustrated with the changes and the late summer heat, dont know where kainyc vanished to, but i sure hope we can get these guys back on the field soon, i enjoy the energy created by the varied posts that pop out of the atmosphere to surprise and shock, and occassionaly move me in one way or another....great to see paul back in action.

Hey Davo, ta for the vid, featured in the Narcs section! Fuck me I've only just noticed the jury docket button! Will pay regular attention! Where's all the other Editors? What do they edit? Am I missing an Editors guide page? I trust this addition of yours will get us all together a bit more. Dug
