Yesterday I was going about my normal work/home routine, checking in on the brink to avoid taking on my next work task, making calls, researching design materials, drawing a little, procrastinating a lot.when I decided to check the mail. My latest Netflix choices had arrived bundled with the usual catalogs and bills. Sitting down to filter though the keepers and tossers, I was confronted with a small catalog that I had never seen or heard of before, the outside was colorful and there was an attractive model standing next to something that I didnt recognize. Thinking this was some dispatch from guitar center or hobby related outfit, I tore open the plastic tab and started to leaf though the pamphlet... it started to dawn on me that this was a gun supply catalog... reloading gear, holsters, articles on the merits of revolvers... truly offensive letters to the editor...the works. At first I was amused and a bit bewildered..why am I receiving this? I havent ordered any such items on line... not a member of the nra (well, at least not for the past 35 years or so) how did I get targeted by the add gurus for this? That is when I started to get scared. I had heard there has been a spike in gun sales since the election and apparently vendors are trying to cast a wide net and work that hysteria... this truly disturbed me, got me thinking I should get a gun because the other guys were getting guns and I dont want to be the only one without a gun.... wow, what kind of thought spiral had I fallen into, paranoia welling up, replacing the hope high that I had spent the week riding on. I am becoming scared.... and paranoid.... and pissed off, a bit depressed and definately pissed off.

Today, still a bit disturbed and distressed about this inner debate I received an email from TED.a link to an inspirational video and an effort to start a global dialog in an attempt to create a Charter for Compassion, focusing on the common positive messages within the worlds religions.... this gave me a little hope that maybe the world is not quite completely in the crapper yet... her is the address:

Maybe I am a little less scared right now..... food for thought.
