FM BELFAST - NEW CD OUT NOW!

FM BELFAST is an electro, indie and bubblegum electronica Enclave from Iceland, and they just released their highly anticipated new Album: "FM BELFAST- How To Make Friends". I met with FM BELFAST when they where playing at SXSW 2008, where I experienced two of their Shows, one at the main venue, and another show, off venue, at a rainbowy gay bar.
One thing I can tell you about FM BELFAST, and that is that they will make that hardened liquid in your veins called blood move again, if you like it or not, they are sure to make your booty run rampant on the Dance floor, or if you are as hardened as myself, a foot! Ive been listening to their Album for weeks now and I already got my favorites songs picked out from the album: Lotus, Par Avion, Underwear, tropical, VHS and Frequency, and thats more than half the album, that tells you just a little about how good it is. I wrestled FM Belfast for an interview, and I present to you the results:

JS: So How long has "FM BELFAST - How To Make Friends" album been in the works, and what inspirations do you draw from?

FM: It's been about one year since we decided to make and release an album.
We draw Inspirations from everything around us, from everyday life, from the music we hear, the movies we see and the bands we like.

JS: How do you make friends?

FM: Our experience is that by traveling all over the world and playing music for people and trying to get them to dance, works really well. Other than that we suggest being nice :)

JS: Where are you from and how did you meet each other and what's the story behind the formation of FM BELFAST, did you all playing together in the Sandbox as kids?

FM: Arni Vil and Arni Pluseinn met a hospital in Reykjavk and Loa & Arni Pluseinn met at a flea market in Reykjavk in 2005, later that year Arni Vil and Loa met for the first time in a supermarket.

JS: How old is FM BELFAST?

FM: It was conceived on christams 2005 and born at Iceland Airwaves in 2006.

JS: What are your plans for the future, where will the road take you?

FM: We want to play as much as possible and we really want to release another album in 2009. In the future: the band will purchase a super computer and the complete *M*A*S*H* collection on VHS... Also a tan would be nice.

JS: Could you tell us a crazy story from one of your gigs?

FM: Once we were trying to climb of the stage to go and dance with the crowd. All three of us got grabbed by the people and it ended up being the first accidental stage dive in history. It didnt end very well but Arni Vil has apologized to the girl he fell on and Loa's sister has forgiven her for accidently assing her in the face.

JS: You play all over the world, where is your favorite place in the world to play a show?

FM: This is the hardest question youve asked us. We cant decide. Everyone we have met have been so good to us and thats what seems to matter.

JS: The music scene is Iceland is exploding, do you feel that you are on top of ticking time bomb that is waiting to go off, with the advent off Iceland Airwaves and the positive attention the Icelandic Music Industry is getting?

FM: Positive attention is good, ticking time bombs are bad. Friends good, alone bad.

JS: I guess what I was trying to say is that just like everything in Iceland (beautiful and plentiful), the music scene is Iceland is forever growing, and just like the mandatory public pool for every 1000 of it's citizens, Good Bands from Iceland are Plentiful, and with huge music festivals like Iceland Airwaves, there are so many good bands out there, and they are just getting better and there are more of them popping up everywhere. I guess my reference to the ticking time bomb was that the Icelandic Music Scene is about to get the attention it deserves, and with Iceland Airwaves that together with the Music Expo's Being held in Reykjavik in Correlation with RIFF (Reykjavik International Film Festival), I think that you are in a very good place to do some very good things!

JS: What is your favorite Band from Iceland (Other than yourselves of course!)?

FM: Retro Stefson

JS: Is this a self distributed title, how did you guys get in with World Champion Records, is that your own company or?

FM: World Champion Records is our little label. We self released the album but Kimi Records will help us distributing it.

JS: And Finally, where can we get your Album?

FM: You can get it on www.worldchampionrecords.com or digitally on iTunes, Napster, Amiestreet and Amazon.com

Hugs and kisses for our thugs and bitches.

Davo & John, to us it seems like the 4th time of posting. I get emails regularly in my inbox telling me there is a new HMS Belfast CD out. As far as I know, its a CD by a rotting hulk harboured along the Thames in London. Which is HMS Belfast.

It has led to my seriously considering marketing the next Elton John album on the Brink.

Ha haahhhahahaahhaha......fucking joking Shirley.
