many years ago, ready to start my professional career, i set out with a friend to boston in mid recession to find our first architectural office jobs....enthusiastic apprentice designers going door to door with portfolio in hand. we split up the city and started at opposite ends. times were hard, interviews happened, but they were just pleasant time killing diversions for those with jobs....there weren't any jobs. door to door architect. late in the afternoon, my buddy and i found ourselves in the lobby of the same small office. he went first, then me....we both got encouraging feedback, they had a job. but just one....he got there first, he got the job. well, that small office was a very interesting place, hidden below the surface was the fact that this was what remained of Buckminster Fuller's office. filed away were all the archives of his work over the years....a very fascinating body of work including the dymaxion house and dymaxion car and geodesic domes galore. over the time my buddy worked there he would stumble onto some hidden gem- a model or drawing that captured the imagination and gave a glimpse of a great mind. unfortunately the office really only did ray-domes at that point....using the geodesic designs to create the fiberglass domes to protect satalite dishes.my job search continued for a couple of more days or weeks, i ended up in another small office working for a mayflower descendant. we ended up sharing offices with a couple of other tiny firms, one of which happened to be what was left of Fredrick Law Olmstead's landscape architecture practice....i had found my own treasure box to explore.

It's pretty amazing to me to note that in both experiences with two accidental brushes with the works of two such huge entities, you didn't use the word "stole" a single time.
You and your old buddy must be saints.
