Whatever happens, doesn't matter
I've noticed it's quite a task to remain in the present on Christmas Day if you're spending it by yourself. I think it is a day of reminiscence, I've just been remembering past friends who have played such in important part in my life who I've lost touch with.
Early loves, early bands and being amongst those circles of camaraderie in my youth, friends from the time I spent in the Illusion who I loved dearly, they had a natural way of interaction with the form which I admired, however it can put you in a box if you become unaware and some of them fell foul of it.
It doesn't matter who is President or Prime Minister, The Pope, Archbishop of Canterbury, who's in charge of anything, it really doesn't matter out here. Enough of us who can stand this side of the see saw will see the others cling on to the other side and hopefully have a soft landing of understanding.
This is a massive part of History that we're living through and is now almost impossible for all of us not to see the cracks in what we as humans have created. It's only the beginning part of the process which will lead to us all to make a decision of where we want to place ourselves through personal thought and wisdom rather than being told what to think.
What we now have will eventually devour itself if we believe that the importants are GDP and profit, there is enough to go round for everyone in the world to live like Kings.
Profit equals control and creates a group of people having better lifestyles than others which equals imbalance and fear which in turn induces suppressed anger. Who the fuck wants to live in that environment, honestly. It's because it is portrayed as the accepted way of life, the safe easy option when really it's one of the most un-natural and distressing ways to live.
Loans, credit cards and overdrafts will suck she shit marrow from you bones, misinformation that is tailored for your mind will control you to dig yourself in deeper.
It's sold to us from birth as being 'safe' but eventually if you join in you find yourself selling your beliefs, your soul to survive, and god help you if you're found out. I didn't get found out so much, I attacked it as much as I could then handed myself over. 'It's a fair cop guv, I can't keep running forever'.
The next four years will create a huge pile of humility.

My prayers for some time alone on Christmas were most thoroughly not granted. Had to spend many hours with four geezery in-law kinfolk, people I disagree with about virtually everything. Had to go outside to smoke, which I consider rude -- although I may well be that last human being on the planet who thinks so. One bright spot appeared, though: the stultifyingly boring took a turn into mentionings of certain inherited loot, which I'm intensely opposed to (I wish inheritance taxation would amount to about 90% of any postmortem gift with the lone exception being a waiver attached to land and equipment attached to a family farm.
Inherited moolah inevitably created an artistocracy, almost as fearsome to me as a theocracy (which also creates a sickening and very powerful aristocratic class). I'm no particular fan of US Democracy (a myth) but at least from time to time in this country we ressurect faint whiffs of our dusty sense of egalitarianism.
Still: fucking Christmas. I suspect it would be hard for most folks to understand what a grotesque concoction it's become to those who still find meaning in the few words we can reasonably assume were spoken by an itinerant, rebellious peasant from the backwaters.
Thanks for your thoughtful words.

I believe that not being allowed to smoke where you want is an outrage, it's the height of bad manners from any host. As you're well aware this bloody country has a huge throughput of egotistical in bred no brainers who have lived off family monies for Centuries, people we can look up to to show us how to live our lives decently, Lords, Ladies and their cloven hoofed output leading us and showing us the way.
Now we have the neuveax rich which who come and go with the ever changing tides of the economy, they are the believers and upholders of the system, verging on Theocracy, their common deity - money. Over the next five years they will have a go at being the neuveax poor which is most humbling.
The smell is getting more and more noxious but as Chancy said 'I like to watch'
