Jim Helton rules. Best cut man in the business I've ever seen. And I don't mean ringside docs. Ain't none of them any good. All hail Jimeye.

Thanks Guy, this movie is sitting on a shelf somewhere collecting dust because the producers didn't get the right releases. The movie is pretty great. Some of my best work as an editor and sound designer. A bummer. At least I can share a little bit and in 20 years everyone will be able to see it like those old Muhammad Ali documentaries.
How is the transition after the dry dock maroon?

Thanks for the clip, Jim. Now my guilty pleasure of watching MMA isn't so guilty. Stephen Bonnar and Uriah Faber (the pretty boy) are two of my favorites. Bonnar has this dispassionate quality. He just goes to work and gets it done. Very little theatrics before or after -- and no trash talk. I like that. Faber is this pretty surfer looking kid who you wouldn't take a second look at in his street clothes. But he could tie you in a knot and beat you into burger. They say that pound-for-pound he may be the best.

I think some of these guys' ears go beyond cauliflower -- more like broccoli!

One thing I wonder about is what kind of brain damage these guys are going to have when they are older. The oldest cage fighters are in their 40s. There are a lot of retired football players in their 50s and older who have scrambled brains -- hemets have gotten a lot better since they played, though. But MMA fighters take punches with no protection. And they take fists and elbows when they are on their backs. So they take the actual blow and then receive another blow when the backs of their heads hit the mats. That's a lot of brain jarring. Anyway, we'll see how it plays out when these guys get older.

Thanks Jim. That is a great description o Faber! He was the main event in the movie we made - the day before, the day of, and the day after a fight. It was really interesting to see these guys focused and getting ready. No trash talk at all just getting to work. Pure honesty, no showmanship. Cutting weight at the last second and watching the countdown to fight time.
