RAVENS AND CHIMES

Ravens and Chimes are on tour.

This band (Ravens and Chimes) is a cut above.. like WAY above anything out there. They're very tight live onstage when there is some co-operation with the venue and when there is room for the six of them onstage. They are as entertaining a bunch of lanky nerds as you could find rummaging thru homework and porno tossed out at a punk club. These mates are pumping out the best and most layered music and lyrics I have heard since Bowie humped Mickie (I hope I have that the right way up). If you haven't heard them yet, don't feel too guilty, they are still flying under the radar... so search for them! .. and get a bodyfull of their sounds. They go on tour to play out in about ten northern cities, starting off in Montreal June 7th at Casa del Popolo and then Toronto for the 10th at the Horshoe Tavern. After that, they are slated for L.A.at Spaceland on 6/16 and San Francisco at Cafe du Nord on the 17th. I hear also that Portland is on their schedule for the 19th @Holocene and then Vancouver for the Commodore Ballroom on the20th. They will be closing the tour in Winnipeg on the 28th and I they say that some other venues along the route are in negotiation. Check 'em out if you be lucky

Here are the dates so far:

6/7 Montreal - Casa Del Popolo (St. Laurent just below St. Joseph)
6/10 Toronto - The Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen St. West)
6/12 Chicago - The Empty Bottle
6/13 Madison WI - University of WI (unconfirmed)
6/16 Los Angeles - Spaceland
6/17 San Francisco - Cafe Du Nord
6/19 Portland - Holocene
6/20 Vancouver - The Commodore Ballroom
6/21 Victoria - Sugar
6/22 to 6/25 Seattle - nothing booked yet but soon
6/28 Winnipeg - Old Market Square (this is an outdoor show)

We will be posting more shows and radio appearances on our myspace page as they come so feel free to send people there for more info and the addresses of clubs/what time we go on/how much the cost is.

well i wouldnt go as far as to say they suck-to each his own. but for my tastes, that guy's vocals just arent my cup of meat. hey...i cant stand dave matthews so who the fuck am i? im one of those guys who prefer freddy neil over spandau ballet. hoyt axton over roxy music etc etc. they have "unique" arrangements- i'll give them that...

Asher is the nephew of Leonard Cohen. I think Leonard is his inspiration and has been a guiding influence. Still to each his own. I have seen them and they were quite good the night I saw them. It had elements of Donovan and the lyrics were literate.

i wondered about the cohen references on their myspace. thats some positive cred right there. "tower of song" is one of my all time favorite tunes. happy and sunny!
