By the way, In the Gullah culture (from about a hundred miles south of Savannah on up to Charleston) early Freedmen built smokehouses and outbuildings of stacked, discarded glass bottles, held together by a chinking mortar of beach sand, swamp muck and tabby (partially ground oyster shells). Looking around the house, I can only lay hands on one picture of such a structure -- a primitive icehouse built in the fishing village of Darien, Georgia, where I'm from and where my Welsh ancestors arrived as part of the Debtor's Colony supervised by William Oglethorpe.

Not exactly Puritans landing at Plymouth Rock, but better suited to the truth: tough, mean, hard-drinking Quakers who went into voluntary slavery to free their families from oppression.

at one point mid last century, heinekin actually developed a square bottle, intended to be used as building blocks once emptyed of their golden contents....an idea worth revisiting/developing further, me thinks..."pick up another case at the packy honey, we have to get to work on the new addition"....
